The purpose of this article is to teach you an easy card tricks series member called:

Easy Card Tricks - The Telepathy Card Trick

Easy Card Tricks - Telepathy Trick

The Telepathic Card Trick

!! You must follow along with the trick. Not only will you surely understand it this way, but you will also memorize it. Now go get that pack of cards.

Phase 1. Start by shuffling the deck, then glance at the bottom card (the 4 of clubs for this example) and then spread out the pack in your hands.

ex: “Let me show you something. First I shuffle the pack.”

NOTE: The faces of the cards are facing you.

Phase 2. Tell your friend to pick out any card, BUT not look at it, and place it aside. Name the card at the bottom before he chooses. Again, for this example the bottom card is the 4 of clubs.

ex: “I will now show you that you have telepathic powers. I can see the cards, but you can’t. I will tell you which cards you are going to choose, before you choose them and then telepathically send their position to you. Pick any card you want from the deck and without looking at it, set it aside. Your first chosen card will be the 4 of clubs.”

NOTE: You can use many variations to this intro, but I have found that this one makes the most sense and people never catch on if you do it this way as it changes the focus from magic trick to telepathy.

Phase 3. As they pick their first card you see which one they choose and remember it. It is the 2 of diamonds for this example.

ex: “You will now choose a second card and place it with your first. Your second card will be the 2 of diamonds.”

Phase 4. As they pick their second card you again see which one they choose and remember it. It is the queen of hears for this example.

ex: “The third card you will choose will be the queen of hearts. Place it with the others.”

Phase 5. As they pick out their third card, you again remember it. In this example it will be the jack of clubs.

ex: “Ok. I am now going to pick a card and it will be the jack of clubs.”

Phase 6. You pick out the bottom card (the 4 of clubs) and place it at the bottom of the stack of 3 cards that your friend has chosen. Make sure he doesn’t notice where you place it.

ex: “If your subconsious has heard my thougts and received the communication of the cards position we should now have the following cards: the 4 of clubs, the 2 of diamonds, the queen of hearts and the jack of clubs.”

NOTE: you place the card you have chosen at the bottom of the others so that they will be in order.

Phase 7. Deal out the four cards, one by one.

ex: “So, the first card I told you to choose is the 4 of clubs, the second was the two of diamonds, the third the queen of hears and the fourth the jack of clubs.”

Phase 8. Congratulate your friend on his telekinetic powers.

ex: “Good job friend_name, it seems that you have quite a receptive mind. You could really benefit from meditation. Now my next trick is…”

Easy Card Tricks – The Needle In a Haystack Card Trick

There are many articles on doing easy card tricks, I won’t bore anyone with an introduction but instead give you the first of a series of easy card tricks – these can be learned in minutes and mastered in hours, this means you’ll be able to do them anytime, anywhere and with full confidence.

You will not need anything except a deck of cards and the motivation to excel. By the way, some people will try to convince you that you need special equipment or things like 101 tuition. This is simply not true and the most interesting and reliable card tricks are the ones that are easy, have a quick payoff and can be done with a minimum of preparation and props (like using you friend’s deck of cards at a party).

And another thing, how can people say these are easy card tricks if you need to watch videos, and buy props and books to understand them. So, the first of the easy card tricks that I am going to show to you is called:

easycardtricks10

The Needle In A haystack Card Trick

!!! don’t just read, grab a pack of cards and follow along, if you don’t you’re likely to just read the trick and then forget it – doing this easy card trick even once will move it into a special part of your memory and you may find yourself in a suitable situation and just saying: “Hey, let me show you guys something”

1.       Borrow a deck of cards; note the card on top of the deck and remove the three other cards that have the same number. ex: on the top of the deck is the 7 of spades, you remove the other three 7’s and place them in front of three participating audience members.

2.       Have the three participants choose between the three 7’s. They are to choose a card, look at it without anyone else seeing it, and then place it on the table in front of them.

3.       Tell the first participant to choose a number between 1 and 10. From the top of the deck you then deal that many cards, face down, one at a time, and then put them back on top. Don’t try to understand, follow the steps and you’ll get it when you reach the end of the card trick. ex: the guy says 4 so you deal out 4 cards, then put them back on top of the deck (the 7 of spades is now the 4th card from the top).

4.       Tell the second person to say a number between 11 and 20; let’s say he says 12. You deal out 12 cards, one at a time, face down, from the top of the deck. You then take these and put them back on top of the card pack (the 7 is now the 9th card from the top).

5.       You ask the last person for the difference between the first and second spectators number. In this case: “Now friend_name, what is the difference between 12 and 4”. He will say 8, and you deal out 8 cards, one at a time, face down, from the top of the deck. The ninth card will be the 7 of spades, the original top card.

6.       You ask each of the participants which one of their cards they think matches the unrevealed ninth card: “So, friend name, do you think your card matches this one here”

7.       You turn over the ninth card and, surprise, all their cards match this one. In this example this is because they all have 7’s.

8.       Practice your showmanship.

From the audiences perspective it will look like this: You, taking a borrowed deck and removing three cards, then three participants choosing between any of the three. The first participant offers a number and is dealt than number of cards. The second one offers a number and is dealt that number of cards. The third is asked the difference between the first and second and is dealt that number of cards. One more card is dealt and placed on the table.

To everyone’s  surprise as each of the three participants cards is turned over it matches the one placed on the table. There you have it, the first in a series of easy card tricks you can perform anywhere you’ve got a deck.

TIPS: You can perform this card trick for just two people, simply take the third card and place it back in the pack after the two participants have each chosen a card – same for one person. When you shuffle through the cards at the start of the card trick you can pretend it’s because you want to take out the jokers. You can spread out the cards on the table at the start of this easy card trick so that you can see the top card without it appearing suspicious. If you like this trick feel free to contribute with extra tips and variations.

All the magical best,

Damian

Easy Card Tricks – The Jedi Mind Trick Card Trick

Oh, the horror, the absolute pain. I know what you are going through — so many days and not a single new trick. The pain will now be quenched me dear easy card tricks fans. The time is yet again upon us to learn magic card tricks. So, get that pack of cards out, I know it’s kept close at hand by now, and let’s jump back into our easy card tricks series.

Today another blissfully easy one, again included in the kids magic tricks category, BUT this is also a street magic tricks category member – why, because you can do it on the street :) .

To the sounds of scotish bagpipes I now unveil, To YOU:

Easy Card Tricks

Easy Card Tricks

The Jedi Mind Trick Card Trick !

I know I don’t have to tell you again…BUT,

get that deck of cards out and follow along with me as I explain the trick. Seriously, you’ll understand it better and memorize it at the same time. My telekinetic powers will reach out to you from the screen and impress upon YOU the importance of this. Just do it. You’ll thank me later. !

Perform this trick to a single person at a time. It’s more effective that way.

Phase 1. Grab your deck, find all the 7’s and move them on top.

ex “Hey friend_name want me to prove that magic is real. Come over here and let me show you something.” – arrange cards as you’re saying this, or you can prepare ahead of time.

Personally, I like tricks I can do on the spot, so any preparation that must be done I am able to do in front of the audience — an audience can be just one person you know.

NOTE: Pretend you are taking out the jokers as you arrange the 7’s to the top.

Phase 2. Pretend to shuffle the cards. Keep the 7’s on top though.

ex “First off. Clear your mind, make it a blank slate. I know it won’t be hard for You.”

NOTE: You can do this shuffle by holding the pack in your left hand, grabbing cards from the bottom with the right and mashing them into the middle. TIP: You can make him/her close his/her eyes here.

Phase 3. Give the four sevens on top of the deck to the volunteer — by know he won’t have a clue that you have arranged them.

ex: “Take these cards. I have impregnated them with some of my awareness so that they may sense your mind. Do not look at them, just hold them close to your heart.”

NOTE: blow on the cards before you hand them over (for added effect) and also fan them out when he/she places them over his/her heart.

Phase 4. Inform that you are now going to ask a series of questions and that these should be answered as fast as possible — this is the key of our little mind trick

ex: “I will now probe your mind with a series of questions. Answer them fast, one after the other. Ready? Let’s go.”

Phase 5. Ask these questions fast, one after the other.

ex: “What is 1 plus 1?” — the trickee will answer 3 (kidding, he’ll say 2)

“What is 2 plus 2?” — 4

“What is 4 plus 4?” — 8

“What is 8 plus 8?” — 16

“A number between 12 and 5?” — over 90% of people will say 7

Phase 6. When they say 7 take the phaned out 7’s and show them to him/her.

NOTE: If they don’t say 7 tell them: “You have a mind that is too embeded in the physical world and it has lost it’s magical sensitivities. BUT wait, let me try something else with you” and move on to a different trick.

Phase 7. Look at them silently and let the trick sink in.

Phase 8. Move on to another trick. Don’t show them how this is done. We need a little magic in our lives even if we know it isn’t true.

ex: “Your mind is wise to the ways of the future. But will it be so in this next case?” — introduce next trick. Don’t know a next trick? Check out this one: Easy Card Tricks – The High School Party Card Trick

This is it!

All the magical best,

Damian

PS: I am having trouble categorizing this, where would you include it: easy card tricks, kids magic tricks, street magic tricks or all of them ?

PS2: Add your own suggestions, tips, tricks and other variations in the comments area. I appreciate people that contribute.

Easy Card Tricks – The Highschool Party Card Trick

Welcome to the next installment of my easy card trick series – soon to be available by email for convenience (daily, twice weekly or weekly – your choice). Today I have for you a card trick that easy card tricks enthusiasts will clamor for, simply because it requires no skill – it is simply a function of math. However, as I demonstrate in this brilliantly crafted introduction, it does require copious amounts of: “Showmanship”.

So, in the sounds of thundering bagpipes and unvisualizable college level word juggling, I give TO YOU:

Card Trick

Card Trick

The High School Party Card Trick:

!!! follow along with the instructions,  don’t read the trick beforehand as you’ll be robbing yourself of its enjoyment.

1.    Grab a pack of cards and take out the jacks, the queens (doesn’t THE queens sound gay?) , the kings and the aces.

2.    Put the jacks in a row, side by side, with their pretty faces showing. Theatrically inform your audience that four high school boys decided to have a party.

3.    Say: “they didn’t have any booze so they each called their older brother out to help out”. Don’t say the stuff out loud if you’re alone, you’ll just feel silly. While you’re saying this place one king on top of each jack.

4.    Say: “but of course, a party ain’t a party without the girls”. Put a queen on top of each of the kings. You know have 4 piles, each with a jack at the bottom, a king on top of that and then a queen.

5.    Say: “like any good party they had too much to drink and it got out of hand” – it’s no wonder though, the poor saps didn’t know any easy card tricks to keeps themselves amused while drinking. “so the cops came …” (while saying this place an ace on each pile) “and picked them all up” (you now take all the piles and place them on top of each other) NOTE: as a result of this you will have a sequence of J, K, Q, A, J, K, Q, A, J, …. you get it, in the pile.

6 Say: “in the car they got into a bit of a scuffle” and cut the deck. Ask your audience to also cut your deck, as many times as you want, really build the moment. BUT, make sure they don’t shuffle the cards.

7.    Say:  ”despite all of this, the drinking, the police, the fighting…” – while saying this you deal the cards into four piles with their faces down – “the highschoolers, the college boys, the girls and the cops” – flip each pile to reveal that the kings are in the same pile, the aces are in the  same pile etc. “all got to their homes alright”.

8.    Pause for applause.

Now, if this isn’t a worthy member of the easy card tricks series I think you just might be a zombie.

In fact, it’s so easy I’m going to include it in the kids magic tricks category as well.

I hold for applause and I’m out.

Damian

PS: as always … (well, not really – this is the first time I ever said this) great suggestions and grand showmanship examples will be promoted to the top of the comments. Not sure how I am going to do this, but you just comment and let me figure this stuff out.

TIPS: shuffle the jacks, queens, kings but not the aces before starting the trick – this doesn’t do anything, it’s just a distraction.

How To Learn Magic Tricks Quickly And Easily

Throughout history, magic tricks and illusions of grandeur have long been a form of entertainment. For many years the public has enjoyed watching magicians perform sleight-of-hand tricks, vanishing acts, mentalism, street magic, escapism, along with many other types of magic.
Perhaps the first type of magic was used in Iran by Magi in the early eighteenth century. In fact, the word ‘magic’ comes from the word ‘magi’ of Iran. From there, though, magic tricks traveled all the way around the world, through Europe, Britain, Russia, and eventually to North America.
Some of the most popular and famous magicians throughout the world have been Harry Houdini, Maskelyne, Cooke, and Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin. In fact, Harry Houdini actually took his stage name from Robert-Houdin. But Robert-Houdin is one of the first magicians that many people refer to when speaking of early magicians because he opened a magic theater in the mid-nineteenth century.
But what defines a magic trick that these magicians are known for? In today’s society, magic tricks have been characterized as a form of children’s entertainment, making magic fun and light-hearted. Some examples of magic tricks that are performed on-stage include making a bird disappear, pulling a rabbit out of a hat, and using smoke and mirrors throughout the show. However, in earlier years when magic tricks and shows started taking shape some of the popular shows included many more illusions of grandeur, including more tricks that were composed of secret traps in the floor of the stage and other props and utilities that used the magician’s surroundings.

Magic: The Science Of Illusion

Magic has been connected to mystery and things that cannot be explained by science. But, during the recent years, there has been in-depth studies focused to magic. Now, magic is known to be the science of illusion. More than that, magic is also an art based on science and techniques.
In fields of sciences like psychiatry, illusion is said to be a distortion of sensory perception. But no matter how negative this may sound, magic has entertained people based on illusion. This gives the impression that something impossible has occurred. Magic tricks are based on scientific principles but people do not seem to connect magic and science.
Different illusions are being used in magic and there are seven types of them.
? Production. These are magic tricks out of thin air. Producing something out of nothing. Tricks like these include appearing acts – rabbit coming out of an empty hat, coins from an empty pocket and the magician or an assistant appearing through a puff of smoke on an empty stage.
? Vanish. Tricks from this category are those disappearing acts like coins disappearing, a dove vanishing out of thin air by a clap of hand and stuffs inside silks into the hands of the magician but when opened revealed nothing. This category is the total opposite of production. The similar tricks are used but done in reverse.
? Transformation. As the word suggest, the tricks in this category involve those which transform anything to another form – chicken to an eagle, fire into a rabbit or a broom into a woman.
? Restoration. Magic tricks using this illusion is meant to restore something to the state it was once before like a cut rope into three parts back into one or cards cut into fourths and back to one.
? Teleportation. This illusion is meant to transfer things to another place. These are the classic tricks that truly amaze people like uncovered cages with one person each and they magically exchange places in a few seconds. This is what is known as double teleportation.
? Levitation. The trick involves lifting objects, animals and even people into air by using trance.
? Penetration. Tricks in this category involve the passing through of objects through a solid wall.
One important thing in maintaining the illusion in magic tricks is the secrecy of the magician. The magician should maintain this secrecy in order to be respected and treated with credibility by other magicians. The only exception is when a magician shares the secrets of the trade with someone who is a serious student of magic.
Remember, you are “killing” the magic by telling the secrets of your tricks to others and reducing them to mere intellectual riddles and puzzles.

Magic Show Tips

For magic enthusiasts, what could be more fun than being able to organize a magic show of their own, right? However, it might not be an easy task to prepare for one magic show that will bewilder your friends and other speculators. Don’t fret. Here are some tips and suggestions that might help one in prepping for one fun magic show that will make all the audience spellbound:
Prepare the Stage
A magic show will not be as exciting if it is done in a place where there’s no stage. One must set up a stage that could consist of either a piano bench or a small table with a blanket or table cloth.
Drapes help a lot in seeing to it that the audience don’t get a glimpse of your activities before performing a trick. Have a certain spot where all your tricks can be done.
Prepare the Props
A magician will have a hard time amazing his or her audience without the help of various magic props. Gather all the paraphernalias that will make the magic show successful beforehand to avoid scrambling around at the eleventh hour.
The usual props used by magicians include playing cards, hats, animals, a handkerchief, etc.
Prepare for the Tricks
What’s a magic show without magic tricks? Practicing the tricks well before the magic show will make one magician less doubtful on whether his or her magic show will be a hit or not. Here are some rules that a magician should follow when doing a magic show:
1. Don’t kiss and tell a trick.
Magic is made to amaze the audience. Telling how to do a trick will spoil that purpose. A trick that is told how to do will lose its mystery.
2. Trick only once.
When a trick is done for the first time, the audience will be very amazed. Doing it twice will make the audience predict what will happen and the risk of figuring the trick out is not impossible.
3. Practice like there’s no tomorrow.
When one is not that comfortable with a certain trick, it is not advisable to perform it. Practicing in front of friends or other people before the show in front of an audience will help a lot in making the magic show successful.
4. Be or look confident.
Acting nervous will make you a laughingstock. When you are going to be the man of the show, it won’t help to be stammering and trembling whild performing the magic tricks. Practicing will help you in this arena.

How to Do Beginner Magic Tricks

One of them most important parts of learning beginner magic tricks is to understand the performance aspects behind the tricks. This article explains the importance of performing and what is needed to do it well.

Performing a magic show is when you will either make or break yourself as a magician. What the audience doesn’t realise is the amount of preparation involved in planning the show. To them you’ll be performing what appear to be miracles using only your hands and everyday objects that you can find in any household.

The famous magician Houdini was a master of the art of obtaining free publicity. No performer ever put on as many free shows for the purpose of breaking into print, and for that matter, few if any, were ever as liberal as he in the matter of entertaining lodges and other groups without charge. Houdini was out in less than a minute. The resulting media blitz established him forever as the world’s greatest escape artist.

Performing is about your presentation and how you perform in front of an audience, what counts is your timing and how you add humour into the mix. This is important because you need to distract the audience when performing magic. Get on stage and perform badly, and the worst that can happen is that people will laugh when your trick doesn’t work out the way you feel it should have.

Magic tricks are not only great for stage and street performance but are also well suited for entertainment at parties or as ice breakers at small gatherings. Magic tricks are also a fun way to add some light-heartedness and “wow factor” to your presentations. The points you make and the comedy aspect of the magic usually come from the ‘patter’ (what the magician says while doing the trick).

Performing magic tricks is exciting and can be profitable. Almost every magician starts performing magic as a hobby, with coin magic tricks and card magic tricks. Performing magic tricks builds self-confidence and self-esteem. It improves hand-eye co-ordination. Performance and style – the best magicians are memorable not only because of their tricks, but because of the way they perform them. Give a thought to your appearance, your voice, your humour, your props and your location when performing a magic show.

Practice and reinvention can help a lot in getting near that coveted status of a recognised magician — the famous and most loved one. Practice only makes a particular move perfect, or at least perfectly attainable. Thoughtfulness and planning will make a routine perfect.

Acting, or knowing how to mislead your audience with appropriate facial expressions and body language, helps create an air of mystery in any performance. Magic has changed, however some of it’s magician’s haven’t. Acts can be spellbinding or just sheer funny, with elaborate equipment. Magicians might ask for an assistant to add variety.

Magic won’t stop until people stop paying attention to it. Magic tricks have been a popular form of entertainment for many years. Originally people who practised illusions and sleight of hand were thought to be powerful wizards and witches.

How To Learn Magic And Become A Magician

Is your dream to become a magician? Magic is something that has always fascinated me as an art form and also as a profession. But how do you become a magician, where do you start? This is probably the most common question that spectators ask when they meet a professional magician.
Well this is my personal story as I do not think there is set way of becoming a magician. For me, it all started with the amazement that magic generated in me whenever I watched magicians on TV or live shows. One of my older cousins also had an interest in magic and used to get catalogues from a magic dealer in France.
The description of the effects that you could accomplish (after purchasing the props or technical book / video) was fascinating and the publicity even made it sound like it was pretty easy. I did not know anything about magic but that was how it all started for me.
Back then, there was no such thing as internet – and there were only a handful of magic shops in France, charging a lot of money for the very special items they were selling on a real niche market. I first ordered a few magic tricks that I thought were a bit disappointing.
Then I got my first magic book, called “The Magic Book” by Harry Lorraine. The book had been translated into French which helped as my English was pretty basic at the time. I highly recommend this book if you can get hold of it as it contains a great variety of material and techniques. Basic coin magic and card magic is covered but also some mentalism (mind magic) effects and general magic with everyday objects.
As soon as I got the book, I started practicing very seriously, dedicating most of my spare time to the study of magic. I got my first pack of Bicycle Playing cards (made by the United States Playing Card Company or USPCC) and practiced most of the basic card techniques that are needed in order to perform the tricks that described in the magic literature.
Once you have mastered about half a dozen of important card techniques, you can then learn hundreds of card routines created over the years by our magic community. Of course, I must point out that you do not need hundreds of card routines in your repertoire.
The same applies to coin magic. Once you have learned the most important coin techniques, you can then learn the routines created by magicians. David Stone, David Roth, David Williamson are excellent coin magicians and I would highly recommend the material they have created.
The two most common formats for learning magic are books or dvd. So which format should you go for? Learning magic with DVDs is slightly easier and faster than from a book, and you can get a better idea of the timing for the performance of the effects. One of problems with DVDs though, is what we call the “clone effect”, or magicians copying exactly their source of knowledge even using the same patter as the inventor. Learning magic from a magic book on the other hand leaves more space for the imagination, and personalization of the effects.
I hope this will inspire you to start learning magic. It is great a hobby and can also become your profession if you are ready to spend the time practising.

The Art Of Performing Magic Tricks

There is also something called “The Magician’s Oath” that has been used for many years. In earlier years when magic shows first started to become popular magicians and those who practiced sleight-of-hand tricks and illusions for large audiences, magicians took “The Magician’s Oath” seriously. This oath dictated that that the magician was never to reveal a secret on how they did their performances, either by accident or on purpose. If there were some magicians that were unreliable and broke this oath then other colleague magicians probably would have been less likely to teach them tricks.
As mentioned earlier, though, magic tricks have long been a form of entertainment. Almost everyone throughout the world loves to watch magicians perform any type of magic trick that they are able to see. Perhaps one of the reasons that people love watching magic shows is because of the element of surprise and mystery that magicians are so good at performing. Many love to guess how magic tricks are done while others insist that they not know! Another reason that magic tricks are popular, especially with children across the world today, is because they are delighted that they can “fool” others into thinking they have done something completely amazing!
All things considered, magic tricks have been around for a long time and there’s no evidence that they’ll be fading into the distance any time soon. The element of mystery about magic tricks is what many people love and as long as magicians can continue producing great magic tricks then magic shows will continue to be popular!
